一、教学背景

1.   教材分析

本课的教学内容选自人教版《英语》四年级下册Unit3 Weather第二课时词汇课。该教学语篇主题为weather report,文本的功能句It’s...in...能为学生介绍不同地方的天气提供句型框架。本节课的目标词汇为cold,cool,hot,warm,此类词汇的掌握有助于学生描述天气状况。此外,Let’s chant环节不仅可以用于巩固操练核心句型,还能丰富话题内容,提供穿衣建议,体现人文情怀。

2.   学情分析

四年级的学生经过一年半的英语学习,已有一定的词汇积累,在教师的指导下,能够借助已知词汇的拼读规则学习新词汇。他们知道如何进行小组合作,并乐于参与小组合作学习。然而,大部分学生没有学过衣服类单词,编歌谣与发微信消息的活动对于他们会有难度,但是小组成员可以相互帮助,共同进步。

二、教学目标

1.   语言交际目标:

(1)能在语境中理解weather report的意思,并正确发音;能听、说、认读单词:warm,cool,cold,hot,并能在语境中正确使用功能句It’s...in...来介绍不同地方的天气状况。

(2)能在图片的帮助下听懂并跟读歌谣;能够替换关键词创编新的歌谣。

2.   思维认知目标:

(1)通过对比跟读单词发音,提升判断分析能力。

(2)通过同桌合作学习、小组合作学习等方式,提高学生的协作策略。

3.   社会文化目标:

了解中国天气状况的分布特点,关心日常天气状况,并根据不同的天气给予他人不同的穿衣建议。

三、教学重难点

1.   教学重点

能掌握词汇warm,cool,cold,hot,weather的音、形、义,并正确运用句型It’s...in...来介绍不同地方的天气状况。

2.   教学难点

能根据给出的不同温度区间,判断cold等描述天气的单词词意,并用功能句It’s...in...介绍不同地方的天气状况。

五、教学过程

Stage 1 Lead-in

Step 1 Enjoy a video

Enjoy a video which shows that different weather conditions decide our dressing in a day.

Step 2 Read and learn

Pronounce the word weather with the help of familiar words.

T:It’s hot in Wenzhou, so I wear a T-shirt today.Our dressing depends on...(The teacher shows students the title of the Ss:...

T:Can you read these words?

(Ss read head,sweater,bread,breakfast.)

T:So “ea” says...

Ss:/e/.

T:How about these words?

  (Ss read brother,mother,father,together.)

T:“ther” says...

  (T points to the word weather.)

T:How can we read this word?

Ss:Weather.

Stage 2 Presentation

Activity 1:Listen and learn

Read the phrase weather report correctly,watch a video of the weather report and fill in the blank orally.

“Good morning,this is the weather report.It’s______in Beijing today.

Harbin,5,cold.

Hong Kong, 30,hot.

Lhasa,15,cool.”

T:It’s warm in Beijing today.Which city is warm too?(The teacher writes”It’s...in...” and “warm” on the blackboard.)

Activity 2:Read and circle

Circle the other words about weather in the weather report on SEEWO(all-in-one machine).

Activity 3:Learn to pronounce

Work in pairs and learn the pronunciation of the following words.

Activity 4: Listen and check

Listen to the weather report and follow it.

Activity 5:Reconstruct and say

Reconstruct the weather report by using “It’s...in...”.

(The teacher sticks the flashcard of key wors and four cities on the blackboard.)

Stage 3:Practice

Activity 1:Respond quickly

Give a complete sentence with the structure “It’s...in...” according to the information given by the teacher.

T:Xinjiang,13.

S1:It’s cool in Xinjiang.

T:Hainan,37.

S2:It’s hot in Hainan.

Activity 2:Learn to chant

Listen to the chant first and then chant together.

(The teacher shows students some pictures in Harbin and a girl from “Let’s chant”.)

T:Where is she?

Ss:(She is in Harbin.)

T:How’s the weather in Harbin?

Ss:(It’s cold in Harbin.)

“Let’s chant

Brrr,it’s cold.

It’s cold outside.

Put on a hat.

Cold,bye-bye!

Activity 3:Make a chant

Talk about the weather in summer and give dressing suggestions.

T:It’s hot in Wenzhou.Is it cold outside in Wenzhou?

S1:No,it’s hot outside.

T:Can you give me some suggestions if I go outside?

S1:...(Students are led to give different ideas.The teacher writes the ideas on the blackboard.)

T:Is it warm inside?

S2:No,it’s cool inside.

T:Yes,we can take off the sunglasses and cap inside.Anything else?

S:...

T:Please work in groups of four,choose one task and make a new chant for summer in Wenzhou.

Stage 4 Production

Activity 1:Know the weather in China

Look at a map full of cities with their temperatures,talk about them and give suggestions accordingly.

T:Look,this is a weather report map,which city is cold today?It’s cold in Harbin today.Anything else?

S1:It’s...in...today.

T:If I were in Harbin now,can you offer some suggestions?

S1:(Put on your hat.)

T:Which city is cool/warm/hot?

Ss:It’s...in...today.(Students give suggestions accordingly.)

T:It’s cool and cold in northern China, but things are opposite in southern China.It’s...

Ss:(Warm and hot.)

Activity 2: Care about the friends

Work in groups of four and give suggestions for Zhang Peng,Mike,Sarah and Amy.

T:Look,my friends are travelling now.Where are they?

Ss:(Urumchi,Sanya,Liaoning,Hangzhou...)

T:Please work in groups of four, choose one person and send a WeChat message to him/her.The message should include the weather and dressing suggestions.
